MAKE : The Shipwreck

One of my favorite elements of our after-hours Mess Night series is concocting the perfect themed cocktail for the event. I created The Shipwreck with Christina Dresser of Bourbon with Bunny to highlight one of our best-selling French teas.

And we can't get enough. While I love the notes of chocolate and hibiscus in our Noir Super Coco tea, any floral spiked tea blend will do. We used Evan Williams as Mr. Williams was once a Harbor Master and our evening was all about the sea... but feel free to use your favorite Bourbon.

THE SHIPWRECK // Makes two cocktails
2 oz. Evan Williams
1 oz. French Tea Simple Syrup
Orange Wedge
Method (makes extra simple syrup):
Using a tea ball or basket, pour one cup of boiling water over one tablespoon of loose tea. Allow leaves to steep for five minutes. Strain tea to remove any loose leaves. Add tea to small pot and bring to a boil with one cup of honey and stir over heat until dissolved.  Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of orange zest. Allow to cool.
Assemble (for each drink):
Add ice to low ball glass. Add 2oz. Evan Williams and 1oz. of the Tea Simple Syrup. Stir with cocktail stick or spoon. Garnish with an Orange Wedge.
